Mosquito larvae trapped in a crystalline water droplet, a tentacled butterfly tongue, and a translucent aquatic bladderwort are the top contenders so far for this year’s Small World Photomicrography Competition popular vote winner. For 37 years, the Nikon Instruments-hosted competition has celebrated the best photography of the microscopic world, and now for the fifth year in a row, the public can choose a winner alongside a panel of judges. You’ll have until October 31st to cast your vote for your favorites among the 115 finalists (narrowed down from 2,000 entries).
