Image of the Day: Ear-ly Exit

A Dumbo octopus (Grimpoteuthis sp.) in the Gulf of Mexico coils its arms up tightly and uses its ear-like fins to swim away. This was the first time researchers observed this “coiled leg” posture in the species.
