The six-day meeting, which begins Sunday, May 8, will feature 315 sessions (including poster sessions), exhibits by more than 300 companies, a placement service and a special student science day. Also, ASM’s Committee on Continuing Education of the Board of Education and Training is sponsponsoring 24 advance workshops for microbiologists, technologists, clinicians, public health officers, veterinarians, managers, directors and researchers.
One highlight will be a Monday morning symposium on AIDS. Speakers at the session, in the Fontainbleau Hotel, will include James W. Curran of the Centers for Disease Control, William A. Blattner of the National Cancer Institute, Myron Essex of Harvard University, Dani P. Bolognesi of the Duke University Medical Center and Nobel Laureate David Bal- timore of the Whitehead Institute.
