Former Senator Tom Daschle has accepted the position of Secretary of Health and Human Services, according to anonymous sources in the Democratic Party.

Officials told the Associated Press today (November 19) that Daschle has the job once his background check is complete, although no formal announcement has been made.

Speculation has been rampant for weeks as to who will be moving into the key position, with the Wall Street Journal proffering Daschle, former NIH head Harold Varmus, and Howard Dean -- Democratic National Committee chairman -- as frontrunners.
