In a letter,1 Donald Forsdyke repeatedly refers to the use of antibiotics as a therapy for HIV and factors involved in the generation of antibiotic-resistant HIV variants. It is a well-known fact that antibiotics are used to combat bacterial, not viral, infections. I know of no antibiotic with antiretroviral activity.
