Distressing that 'The Scientist' would take Prof. Tim Hunt's quote out of context, and with no caveat (this quote of his was a poor joke and a preamble to a very thoughtful statement). What Prof. Hunt said after is far more important to our discussion as scientists and educators.

There is no guarantee associated with Francis Collins's remark. Who knows where the extra money would have gone? It might just have well gone to a whole bunch of worthless stuff.
