Kavi earned her PhD in Microbiology from SASTRA University in India, where she studied social interactions in microbial biofilms and developed diagnostics to detect biofilms. Having developed a passion for science communication during her PhD, she transitioned into science writing and is now a science writer based at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, India. She likes writing about everything from the secret lives of microbes to translational discoveries.
