ONR Funds Young Researchers

The Office of Naval Research will offer grant support this year to approximately 14 young academic researchers through its Young Investigator Program. ONR receives approximately 300 applications for the program annually.

The Young Investigator Program is open to any United States citizen holding a tenure-track position at a U.S. university or college who received a Ph.D. or equivalent degree on or after Dec. 1, 1986. Eligible research areas are mathematics, ocean science, the physical sciences, and engineering.

Successful candidates receive $75,000 of research support per year for three years, with the possibility of additional funding for equipment purchase or through matching funds from another Navy organization. Proposals must be submitted through the university administration.
