linkurl:__Environmental Health Perspectives,__;http://www.ehponline.org/ a leading public health journal published by NIH's National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, will have a new editor-in-chief soon. An NIEHS spokesperson Emailed the list of finalists for the position to __The Scientist__. The three finalists, all of them government employees, are: linkurl:Mike Cunningham -;http://www.f1000biology.com/about/biography/1036539237111759 Toxicologist, National Toxicology Program, NIEHS Hugh Tilson - National Program Director, Human Health Research Program, Office of Research and Development, EPA Richard Wiggins - Senior Science Advisor, Research Planning and Coordination Staff National Health and Environmental Effects Research Laboratory Office of Research and Development, EPA Several NIEHS scientists evaluated applications and narrowed the list of candidates to three, and linkurl:Bill Martin,;http://www.nih.gov/news/pr/mar2006/niehs-02.htm associate director of NIEHS' office of translational research is serving as the selecting official. According to the NIEHS, "The evaluation process is underway and an appointment will be made when this process is complete." This news comes after a linkurl:congressional hearing;http://www.the-scientist.com/blog/display/53639/ on Tuesday, during which linkurl:Samuel Wilson,;http://www.niehs.nih.gov/about/od/ad/index.cfm acting director of NIEHS, promised to restore full funding to __EHP__, which saw its funding cut by almost one million dollars from 2005 to 2007.
