The U.S. Army Research Office (ARO) is looking for proposals in the mathematical, physical, biological, and earth sciences, as well as engineering. Areas of special interest include biodegradation, sensory factors in performance enhancement, biological systems as conceptual models for materials development, theoretical chemistry, and artificial intelligence.

Educational institutions, nonprofit organizations, and private companies may submit proposals. Each proposal should cover a three-year period and summarize the work contemplated for each year of the period. Since funds are available to initiate only a few large, interdisciplinary programs annually, organizations whose research requires the interaction of several investigators should contact ARO before submitting their proposals. Proposals may be submitted at any time. For more information, contact U.S. Army Research Office, Attn.: SLCRO-IP, 4300 S. Miami Blvd., P.O. Box 12211, Research Triangle Park, N.C. 27709-2211.
