Charles Spielberger, an expert on stress, anxiety, and anger, developed the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, which has become the standard international measure of anxiety. It has been adapted into 50 languages and dialects. Spielberger is now specializing in behavioral medicine and health psychology; his latest findings suggest that people who both express and exert excessive control over their anger appear to be at greater risk for heart disease, while the repression and denial of anger puts people at risk for cancer.
