Science Is More Than Biology, But Biology Is Still Part of Science

The National Science Foundation is a unique federal agency, and it serves a vital role in our nation's effort to meet the challenges of the 21st century. No other organization--public, private, or philanthropic--provides support for fundamental research and education across all disciplines of science, engineering, and mathematics. NSF also supports interdisciplinary programs that stimulate progress within and across traditional fields of study.

The Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) has been a strong supporter of the NSF and has consistently supported the effort to double the NSF budget in five years. We have worked closely with our colleagues in mathematics, chemistry, physics, and other fields to make the case for investment in research.
