For the last few years each new result has been covered extensively in the popular press. And last May, Minot State University in North Dakota hosted an international conference on the topic, in which 89 scientists participated. Organized by Lee Ellis, a professor of sociology at Minot State, the conference was sponsored by the Eugene Garfield Foundation, and was the first to assemble virtually all the top researchers in the field.
