Typically, viral infections are not desirable; however, bacterial viruses, or bacteriophages, are promising therapeutic agents against multi-drug resistant microbes. Many phages have a narrow host range, infecting only one bacterial species or strain. Researchers hope to transform these viruses into targeted therapies for devastating bacterial infections.
