Obama honors scientists with National Medals; Science’s “Twitter stars” redo; considering social media

  • President Obama has named a new crop of National Medal of Science and National Medal of Technology and Innovation recipients. “Our nation has been enriched by their achievements, and by all the scientists and technologists across America dedicated to discovery, inquiry, and invention,” he said in a statement.
  • Following criticism of its first attempt to recognize scientists who are “stars” on Twitter, Science has revised its list, today (October 6) highlighting “100 of the most followed scientists on Twitter.”
