Miltenyi Biotec products and services benefit the biomedical research community worldwide
In 1989, a success story began in Bergisch Gladbach near Cologne: MACS® Technology was developed, an efficient and reliable method to tag and separate cells magnetically. Since then, the Miltenyi Biotec team has grown to more than 1,100 employees. They produce and market over 1,400 products for the biomedical research community worldwide, through subsidiaries in North America and several European and Asia-Pacific countries. Meanwhile, the product range covers reagents, instruments, and services in the areas of cell separation, cell analysis, cell culture, sample preparation, and industrial GMP production of biologics and biopharmaceuticals. Researchers use Miltenyi Biotec products for isolating specific cell types to elucidate their role in the immune system, in hematological disorders and in cancer; clinical applications include the preparation of cells for cell therapy and tissue regeneration, as well as therapeutic apheresis.
Products and services MACS® Technology has become a standard procedure in cell biology laboratories worldwide, documented in more than 12,000 scientific publications. Based on this core technology, Miltenyi Biotec has extended the product portfolio for tissue preparation, cell analysis and cultivation by developing instruments and devices; for example, the autoMACS™ Pro Separator for walk-away separation of target cells; the MACSQuant™ Analyzer for the combined pre-enrichment of target cells and flow cytometric analysis; the gentleMACS™ Dissociator for controlled preparation of cells from tissues; the CliniMACS® Plus Instrument for clinical cell separation; CryoMACS™ Freezing Bags for freezing and storage of blood components. Products and services for microarray analysis and for custom data mining through bioinformatics facilitate a detailed molecular analysis of separated cells. Services also comprise the production of cellular products and recombinant proteins under GMP conditions.
