Pierce Chemical Co. of Rockford, Ill., introduces the PAGEprep™ Protein Clean-Up and Enrichment Kit. The kit, which is used to prepare samples for SDS-PAGE, employs a modified diatomaceous earth resin to bind all protein in the sample. This resin facilitates identification of the pellet, allowing the user to easily remove buffer and other contaminants (guanidine, detergents, etc.). The purified protein sample is then recovered by eluting with a pink tracking dye buffer and is ready for gel analysis. In the future, Pierce plans to introduce additional PAGEprep kits for 2-D gel electrophoresis and protein concentration.
