Hydra HTS Workstation
In 1992, Robbins Scientific released the Hydra-96, an innovative device that relieved researchers from repetitive, manual liquid dispensing. Further development led to the Hydra-384, capable of dispensing reagents in a 384-well format. Now, Robbins Scientific offers its latest technology, the Hydra HTS Workstation, for automated handling of source and target plates.

One component of the Hydra HTS Workstation is the Hydra-PP (automated plate positioner), which consists of a plate-positioning x-y microscope stage that moves source and target plates under a dispensing head automatically with a positioning accuracy of 5 µm. The Hydra-PP also incorporates a fully automated syringe washing system that is engaged after each set of samples has been dispensed.

Like the products before it, the Hydra-PP features computer-controlled Teflon-tipped stainless steel plungers that move up and down within glass syringe barrels to dispense or aspirate ultralow volumes of liquid. The plungers are driven by a ...
