Our results implicated this proto-oncoprotein as a transcriptional regulator. Or findings, in conjunction with published information, had implications in three areas. First, our discovery provides a basis for proposing that ets-1-dependent cell transformation involves alterations in the gene expression of cells in erythroid and myeloid lineages. Second, the ets-1 protein had previously been shown to be phosphorylated in response to activation in T lymphocytes.
