The Gel Logic 100 Imaging System combines a 1.4-megapixel digital CCD (charge-coupled device) camera with IEEE 1394 (Firewire) communication technology, a peripheral connectivity standard that allows high-speed data transfer between the computer and camera. "The communication speed with the camera delivers real-time imaging similar to what you would see in a video system, but with a much higher resolution," explains marketing manager Sharon Goodkowsky.

The system's real-time imaging speed makes it ideal for labs with high-throughput needs, says Goodkowsky. "This system delivers a full-resolution image at a preview rate of seven frames per second," she says. Images are transferred to the computer in less than two seconds. In addition to DNA, RNA, and protein gel imaging and analysis, the Gel Logic 100 can be used for colorimetric membranes, colony counting, and imaging of 96-well ...
