SHEILA MORIBER KATZ, Special Assistant to the President and CEO,
Allegheny Health, Education, and Research Foundation (AHERF);
Professor, Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Allegheny University of the Health Sciences, Philadelphia

As dean (interim) of Hahnemann University School of Medicine, Philadelphia, she helped position that institution for its innovative merger with the Medical College of Pennsylvania/AHERF, the first merger of two medical schools in the United States. At Allegheny University of the Health Sciences, Katz also cofounded Philadelphia's only School of Public Health, a globally unique, community-oriented institution of learning.

Katz is a scientist, educator, physician/clinician, and artist. Her investigations uncovered the cause of Legionnaires' disease, and she was the first to find the causative organism, Legionella pneumophila. A serious poet, Katz, as cofounder and president of the International Arts-Medicine Association, advances the healing power of the arts.
