Designing Transgenic Rodent Models: Key Considerations

Learn about the advantages and disadvantages of random integration and targeted approaches for creating transgenic models.

Share

Creating transgenic rodent models requires transgenesis: the introduction of exogenous DNA sequences into the genome, typically to drive protein expression in a specific spatial or temporal way. Researchers can introduce transgenes into the mouse or rat genome in either a random or targeted manner, and these approaches have their own pros and cons. In particular, the choice of promoter and safe harbor site are especially important.

Download this white paper from Taconic to learn about the advantages and disadvantages of random integration (RITg) and targeted transgenic (TTg) models, and key considerations for working with each approach.
