RAISING A QUESTION: Bruce Psaty's study looked at antihypertensive medications that his team felt had been insufficiently evaluated. In the 1980s and 1990s, scientists evaluating the utility of calcium channel blockers (CCBs) in preventing heart disease in patients with high blood pressure (hypertension) have looked for evidence that the agents lowered blood pressure.
