Yet the result misrepresented us in several ways. First, I was the only person in our group cited, even though I urged the writer to cite others; and since I am, as he said, an unemployed academic, an impression of questionable competence was left. Yet like many others among us, I hold a Ph.D., have taught in universities (several still do), and have many scholarly publications. A few of us are widely honored experts, such as Ron Hatch, formerly of the Magnavox Corp. and winner of the Keppler Award, who should have been the one cited stating that the global positioning system offers no evidence in support of special or general relativity; and Grote Reber, principal founder of the science of radioastronomy, who has long argued firmly against Big Bang theory.
