Transcriptome-Scale Spatial Gene Expression in the Human Dorsolaterial Prefrontal Cortex from thescientistllc on Vimeo.

Differences in pathology and gene expression associated with neuropsychiatric disorders can be localized to specific layers in the human brain. Scientists from the Lieber Institute for Brain Development sought to define the laminar topography of gene expression in the human dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC), a brain area implicated in a number of neuropsychiatric disorders, using the Visium Spatial Gene Expression Solution from 10x Genomics.

In this webinar sponsored by 10x Genomics, Kristen Maynard and Leonardo Collado-Torres will describe

  • How they mapped and measured total mRNA within the tissue context.
  • How they integrated their data with various neuropsychiatric disorder gene sets to demonstrate preferential layer-specific expression of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) risk genes, exemplifying the potential of the data for clinical translation.
  • How the researchers implemented the Visium Spatial Gene Expression Solution in...
