Ann Kennedy has received numerous honors for research as a radiation/cancer biologist, including the prestigious Research Award from the Radiation Research Society. While the award has been given more than a dozen times, Kennedy is only the second American researcher to have received it.

Much of her recent work in cancer prevention has been on the soybean-derived protease inhibitor called the Bowman-Birk inhibitor. This protease inhibitor is now being evaluated as a human cancer-preventive agent as well as a potential therapeutic agent for a number of other diseases.
