Apoptosis, or programmed cell death, has become increasingly relevant in an ever-growing number of biomedical fields. This paper, says Steven M. Frisch, assistant staff scientist at the Burnham Institute in La Jolla, Calif., links the fields of integrin signaling with apoptosis in a phenomenon called anoikis.
