Charles Sanders's 40-year career in science has run the gamut in the public and private sectors. A cardiologist by practice, he has been a physician, teacher, and hospital administrator, formerly serving as a professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School and general director of the Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. He has also been a leader in the pharmaceutical industry, having been vice chairman of the Squibb Corp., Princeton, N.J., and chairman and CEO of Glaxo Inc., Durham, N.C.
