Charles Elachi, former manager of the California Institute of Technology and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Earth and Space Sciences Division, became the first assistant laboratory director for JPL’s new Office of Space Science and Instruments November 2. He has served as principal investigator on several NASA projects and conducted research on the applications of spaceborne imaging radar.
