SARS-CoV-2 can result in long COVID, a phenomenon where chronic symptoms persist for months or years after the initial acute infection. Long COVID can present in many ways, ranging from respiratory problems to memory loss. As such, pinpointing the underlying causes of this chronic illness has been difficult.
