Peter S. Kim, an associate professor of biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge who also holds appointments as a member of the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research and an associate investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, has recently been named the recipient of awards from two national professional societies.

The American Chemical Society will honor Kim with the 1994 Eli Lilly Award in Biological Chemistry, to be presented at its fall meeting in Washington, D.C., where he will also be chairing a session on "Protein Folding, Function, and Design." On July 12, Kim, 36, will receive the DuPont Merck Young Investigator Award at the Eighth Symposium of the Protein Society in San Diego and will deliver a lecture titled "Protein Dissection."
