HANDY JNK: Howard Hughes Medical Institute's Roger Davis and colleagues learned that JNK, a member of the mitogen-activated protein kinase family, has more isoforms--and more potential therapeutic possibilities--than researchers previously thought.
JNK may be anything but what its pronunciation suggests. This protein kinase--a member of the mitogen-activated protein kinase group--has been associated with general responses to environmental stress and with pro-inflammatory cytokines. However, this paper showed that JNK is more varied--and thus potentially more useful--than previously thought.
