Cancer vaccines target unique antigens on tumors, including overexpressed healthy proteins or virus-derived proteins. Each individual tumor is unique, carrying its own distinguishing antigens, which can complicate the cancer vaccine development process. To better characterize, identify, and understand the dynamic interactions between the immune system and cancer cell antigens, researchers can turn to advanced flow cytometry and live-cell imaging technologies.
