Eureka was designed for the popular market. It’s easy to use, nice to look at and fun to play with. Like many of Borland’s products, its appearance is spectacular. Eureka is oriented toward business applications, but certainly has many scientific and technical uses.

Eureka has a basic four-window interface, with a command line always available at the top of the screen. The windows are used for entering and editing equations, solving them, generating reports and verifying solutions. A fifth window, for plots, pops up in midscreen when required.

This windowed interface is very flexible. Windows can be stacked, tiled, zoomed, shuffled and generally viewed any way but sideways. The command line is rather like a Macintosh line, with cascading pull-down menus.

Eureka has size limits that probably make it unsuitable for many realistic mathematical and scientific applications. You may have only 20 variables, 20 equations, 10 user-defined functions, and 10 ...
