-------- Hubble Trouble Aside, Fellowships Offered

Now in its second year, the Hubble Fellowship Program encourages young scientists to do independent research in observational or theoretical astronomy related to the Hubble Space Telescope mission. The program is offered through the Space Telescope Science Center and supported by NASA.

Up to 15 scientists will be appointed based on the quality of the proposed research as well as their previous publications, a summary of their past work, and three letters of reference. Applicants must speak English and must have received their doctoral degrees after Jan. 1, 1988, and before the fellowship begins in September 1991. They can use the $34,500 annual award at any U.S. institution. The fellowship guarantees two years of support and provides for a possible third year based on sufficient progress.
