Removing carpets and replacing them with non-porous surfaces would be a start, but those [efforts] should be directed to minimizing contamination with organisms that might actually be present, such as the organisms known to cause tinea pedis, various species of Aspergillus, as well as other saprobic contaminants, for example, Fusarium species, known to cause opportunistic disease in susceptible individuals.
