Mini Preps Are Here To Stay So Say The 25 Companies Who Make Kits.

GeniePrepTM Kit Ambion’s GeniePrep Kit demonstrates versatility in purifying DNA away from different buffers and contaminants including proteins, carbohydrates, RNA, oligonucleotides and DNA linkers. This one kit is designed to isolate linear and circular double-stranded DNA from a variety of sources: from E. coli, from a variety of enzyme reactions, such as restriction digestions and PCR, and DNA fragments can be isolated directly from low-melt agarose. DNA purified by GeniePrep is suitab

The GeniePrep Kit utilizes a glass fiber pad premounted in a spin column that preferentially binds DNA. Each of the applications follows a simple, general protocol. The DNA solution is mixed with a DNA Binding Buffer (a chaotropic salt), which is then passed through the glass fiber pad. DNA preferentially binds to the glass fiber pad while oligonucleotides, free nucleotides, and RNA pass through the fiber pad. DNA is further cleaned with three different wash solutions and then eluted with water or TE. The fiber pad has an approximately 15 microgram capacity.

For high volume applications and economy, BIO 101 also offers the MiniPrep Express Matrix to isolate plasmid DNA for restriction enzyme analysis and PCR screening purposes—at $0.08 per prep. Cleared lysate is added to the Express Matrix to bind the plasmid DNA, followed by washing and eluting. There is no need for alcohol precipitations, Rnase, or organic solvent ...
