The Hybritech Family Tree
Hybritech was funded by venture capital firm Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers, a well known firm in Silicon Valley that has gone on to fund Amazon, Google, and hundreds of other information and biotechnology firms. Among Hybritech's biggest successes: Development of a monoclonal antibody for hepatitis B, and a prostatespecific antigen (PSA ) test for diagnosing early-stage prostate cancer. The biotech also gave birth to many other biotechs, shown in this family tree. (Read more at "The Birth of Biotech.")
