Looks like the linkurl:2007 Weblog Award;http://2007.weblogawards.org/polls/poll-index.php for linkurl:Best Science Blog;http://2007.weblogawards.org/polls/best-science-blog-1.php has gotten ugly. Along with the usual suspects (last year's winner linkurl:Pharyngula,;http://scienceblogs.com/pharyngula/ among others), an apparent anti-science site focused on denying human-induced climate change has made it onto the ballot. linkurl:Climate Audit,;http://www.climateaudit.org/ a site maintained by Steve McIntyre, not only appears among the finalists but is in a very tight race for the top prize. linkurl:Bad Astronomy,;http://www.badastronomy.com/ a site maintained by erstwhile astronomer Phil Plait, has traded the lead with Climate Audit several times in the past couple of days with the polls closing today (November 8th). In the final days of voting, other finalists have endorsed one or the other front runner on their own blogs. PZ Myers, who runs Pharyngula gave his endorsement for Bad Astronomy yesterday (November 7th) writing, "get out there and vote for Bad Astronomy for best science blog. The forces of stupidity have been motivated and are pushing a denialist blog up in the rankings, and it would be good to consolidate our votes and make sure a decent blog wins." Meanwhile Steve Milloy, who maintains the blog linkurl:Junk Science;http://www.junkscience.com/ (another climate site), endorsed Climate Audit in the final days of voting. Milloy wrote, "JunkScience.com has been nominated in the category of Best Science Blog although we'd like to suggest you consider a vote for ClimateAudit, largely because various ideologues are apparently trying to suppress their vote."
