Following the removal of his medial temporal lobes, Henry Gustav Molaison (HM) and his resulting amnesia sparked unprecedented insights into the neurobiology of memory. Cognitive neuroscientist Earl Miller took the picture, and colleague Rui Xi constructed the brain. Miller studies the neural basis of cognition at the Picower Institute for Learning and Memory at MIT.
