Using Ingenuity Variant Analysis in Pharmacogenomics

This presentation covers sickle cell disease (SCD), specifically the genetic component to fetal hemoglobin response to hydroxyurea. Such knowledge will enhance the ability to predict drug response, improving patient care by allowing selection of individuals who will benefit most from hydroxyurea, and offer alternative therapies.

Join us for our latest webinar presented by Vivien Sheehan, Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine. Sheehan will be speaking about her work in pharmacogenomics. This presentation will cover sickle cell disease (SCD), specifically the genetic component to fetal hemoglobin response to hydroxyurea. Such knowledge will enhance the ability to predict drug response, improving patient care by allowing selection of individuals who will benefit most from hydroxyurea, and offer alternative therapies.

Genes implicated in drug response may also provide insight into the mechanisms by which hydroxyurea induces fetal hemoglobin, and possibly reveal new drug targets. Sheehan will cover her analysis of variants associated with HbF response to hydroxyurea using QIAGEN's Ingenuity Variant Analysis, as well as that of variants associated with endogenous HbF levels.

As an attendee you will learn:

Dr. Vivien A. Sheehan
