Neuroscientist Margaret Davis spends a lot of time running in the woods. After one such run, she was at work in the Laboratory for Integrative Neuroscience at the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, National Institutes of Health when she felt a tick bite her. She quickly grabbed the tick and put it under the Axiozoom microscope she was using to see what type it was. “The little jerk bit me! I fixed him . . . literally,” she later tweeted. Davis determined that the tick isn’t the kind that carries Lyme disease.
